Christian Marriage Counsel

Get The Right Start with Christian Marriage Counsel Through Your Local Church!

If you're a member of a church in your local area that is most likely the place where you will be taking your wedding vows. However, whether you marry there or in another church or a chapel consistent with Christian marriages, the pastor of the church that has your membership should counsel with both you and your intended spouse for two or three sessions to make sure you both understand what a Christian marriage entails, what attitude is important to maintain a successful marriage, and to make sure you are both compatible.  This is an important function of the Christian church.

A responsible Christian pastor will not marry every couple that requests his or her services to marry them, especially if they refuse counsel. If after one or two counseling sessions they do not appear to be compatible, the couple should be advised to wait upon God for a longer period of time.

Also a Christian pastor should marry only Christians.  In other words, persons of different religious affiliations such as a Christian and  Mormon. Although both are Christians, there will be great conflict as the teachings and practices for both are vastly different. There will be much discord in such a union unless one person is willing to give up their beliefs.

Another scenario would be a couple where one is a practicing atheist or agnostic and the other party is a Christian.  It's not a matter of discrimination, but of Biblical obedience to marry persons who are both of the Christian faith or equally yoked.

Marriage can be difficult, while different views of a spiritual belief, especially concerning  salvation, can cause greater discord through anger, hurt, frustration, and fear of not worshiping God as you desire from your heart.  The children involved will grow up confused from living in an environment of fighting about a subject where love, peace and joy should be involved.

BIBLICAL WISDOM FOR MARRIAGE

Counseling for a Christian marriage is of great importance to learn about how God views marriage over what your impression about marriage is based upon your experience with other marriages you know about such as your parent's or even a past marriage.

If you've been married before you need to base this marriage upon Christian values in order to keep it joyfully together in Christ.  This includes insuring that you are marrying the right person.  Sometimes when one remarries, they go from the frying pan into the fire. A Word-based pastor will help you put God before your emotions.

The function of Christian marriage counsel is vital no matter what age you are.  So let God work through your pastor to guide you into the best Christian marriage, even if that means waiting upon God forthe best person for you.

Yes, I know the wedding invitations have already been sent out and you can't go back now!  YES YOU CAN!!!  GOD WILL GIVE YOU THE COURAGE TO DO WHATEVER NEEDS TO BE DONE IN LIFE.  However, it's really best to go to your pastor for pre-marriage counseling before you've  made your wedding arrangements. If you make them a year in advance, then put off any printing and announcements until you're sure that you and your intended spouse are the best marriage partners for each other in Christ.

CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE COUNSEL FEES

Your pastor will have an inexpensive fee for Christian marriage counsel because this service is different than general Christian counseling. When you plan your wedding expenses, plan on giving your pastor $75 to $150 for the sessions even if you're not asked to give one.  Some churches may have lower and higher standard fees.  You can always give more than what they ask as well.

You may also wish to get counseling after your marriage during a crises or if you need more wisdom.  So when choosing a church, make sure that this type of counseling is in place and that you have respect for the pastor.
