Due to a recent loss of employment I will not be able to provide the Christmas my family and relatives are used to. I'm looking for work, but in the meantime, life goes on. Any suggestions for holiday shopping?

Hello,
Christmas doesn’t have to be about money and in fact it shouldn’t, especially if one is a Christian. It’s first about the birth of Christ and what that means to us daily. We should live in thankfulness each day and express that joy to those we love and even to those who are difficult to love.
For the holiday season, many are used to spending a great deal of money, but if this year it’s not possible, you can use this time to discover the blessing of Christmas by making gifts and cards with your family. Children will never forget the memories made during this time together.
For my readers and for those who are having financial difficulty I have a special website that has many ideas for cooking, baking, crafts and activities for Christmas preparation and enjoyment. It’s free so visit awhile and get the true meaning of Christmas. Cut and paste to view.

I have also written an article at White Dove Books about saving money at Christmas time that is helpful as well. Cut and paste to view: http://www.whitedovebooks.co.uk/inspiration-successsecrets/2009/11/how-to-have-spectacular-holiday-season_15.html
Should you not have family for the holidays, I suggest going to the children's ward at your local hospital to take cookies and books. Spend a little time with children who are sick and learn more about the real spirit of Christmas.
Thank you for writing. I hope you and your family have a very blessed Christmas season.
