Is It Too Late For Me?

When a person is older and has lived with the shadow of child abuse all their life by being a perpetual victim, it doesn't seem possible that change can happen.

Why expect more than what always has been? Perhaps being cynical causes bitterness, but there is so little hope.

Hello.

I know from my own life experience that age should not be an issue when healing from the scars of child abuse. I have compassion from where you are right now, but don't think about your age, think about the fact that your life is valuable even as it is right now.

And it's not that difficult. You are not going to be fixed overnight. But you can begin this moment by learning what the abuse has done to you and then by working at it daily. Even a small change can make a mountain of difference!

It's rare, but sometime I catch myself beginning to react to situations or people in ways that reflect my past abuse, but I stop myself and react instead in a productive way. This is something that becomes easy and something that we must do. It's something that you can do

Sometimes we don't even realize that we're suffering from this insidious condition that effects our whole being until we are an older person. But we should not give up just because we're not young anymore.

But my motto is that it's NEVER TOO LATE for change. Life holds so much purpose and joy we deserve to absorb it all and then share it with others, which is the best healing of all.

So don't let your past abuser(s)continue to abuse you. Emerge from your cocoon of past abuse and discover life anew. You will have so much appreciation for experiencing a "rebirth" so to speak, that your joy will spread to others and keep the future generations of your family from living the depression you may be feeling right now.

Please don't perpetuate child abuse victimization. Love your life and love your family.
