The wall paper hanging was going great. I ran the paper through the glue while my husband was on the ladder making sure each section was hung straight. My daughter off to the side, offered her invaluable comments to help us keep the lines on the paper straight.
It was a pleasant afternoon of joking, taking food breaks, and general family fun. I don’t remember the phone ringing, but I can still feel myself slumping onto the one free couch that wasn’t filled with work supplies and covered with plastic. My father had just died.
I didn’t know how to respond at first. I had just visited him two week previous when he had been given a clean bill of health from his doctor. A few weeks earlier this same doctor had surgically removed a few polyps from underneath my father’s tongue.
I was right there in the doctor’s office when he proclaimed that my dad had received a miracle because he could speak, even though it should have taken months to do so and his tongue was no longer swollen from the surgery. The doctor told him to rest and be careful what he ate in order to complete the healing process.
WHAT HAPPENED? my mind kept screaming.
I checked with my husband to make sure he understood my sister correctly. He assured me that he did. My father had died from an aneurysm within his abdomen. According to my sister, he had suffered a blow to the stomach the night before and there had been some delay in his getting to the hospital.
My mind raced back to the conversations I had with him during my childhood. He had taught me about having faith for healing before I had started kindergarten. He was rarely ill. I only remember his being sick a few times as I was growing up, and two times as an elderly man. He had taught me in secret because my mother and the rest of our family believed his talk about God’s promises of healing, safety and protection and other blessings were foolish.
My grandfather was a pastor, but my family took the point of view that God’s promises are not for us today. My father understood that God is the same yesterday, today and forever! He possessed what I call Wealthy Living Faith Healing because he believed with all his heart that God heals today.
Wealthy Living Faith Healing Wisdom
My mind quickly switched to my last visit with my dad. I remembered the giddy look on his face as he whispered messages of faith to me about his complete healing. He said that the members of his church had been praying for his healing and that he had been absolutely sure before his operation that he was healed.
He continued by telling me that every day he found himself laughing with joy because of an inner feeling he had that he was completely well. However at that moment my mother walked in on us. She had heard what he said and was quite angry. Quickly she ended our conversation with the statement that just because people pray for healing or good health doesn’t mean that God will answer them.
"God only answers our prayers if it is His Will," she said quite profoundly.
Let’s step out of the story for a moment and compare her statement with God’s Word. Read Exodus 16:26. God says “…for I am the Lord that healthy thee.” Also Read Exodus 23:25 where we are told that God will take sickness away from the midst of us. Isaiah 53:4-5 says that with Christ’s stripes we are healed. St. Matthew tells us in chapter 8:17 that Christ took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses.
These are only a few of the scriptures that tell us IT IS God’s will to heal everyone! So whenever anyone makes a similar statement as my mother did against the truth of God’s Word, they are actually verifying the truth that God does heal us today or that He answers all of our prayers with His blessings.
HOWEVER NEVER ARGUE OR DEBATE ABOUT GOD'S WORD, ESPECIALLY ABOUT WEALTHY LIVING FAITH HEALING. Just plant the seeds of faith in your heart or the hearts of others and leave it up to the Holy Spirit to water them!
I made the mistake of trying to lovingly clarify that issue with my mother in order to create a positive environment to insure that my father remain in good health. Instead I created an issue of my mother wanting to prove that she was right and I was wrong. I quickly retreated when I realized what had happened. I didn’t want to be right, I just wanted my dad to stay healthy and with us for many years. He was only in his early seventies.
The contention caused by that one afternoon had set my mother on a mission of insuring that my dad took her side. She continued through lunch telling him that he was not healed and that he could die.
All the joy I had for my father’s good health earlier that day turned into the kind of sadness or oppressive feelings I had felt as a child. It’s a helpless feeling that no matter what, there was no way of escaping my mother’s feelings of doom and gloom except to get away from her.
When I left my parent’s home something inside me knew I would never see my dad again. I kept remembering that last moment I saw him as my thoughts drifted from my parent’s home to my couch where I was sitting, feeling numb and sorrowful.
At first I felt as if I should have never left my dad. I had whispered in his ear before I left him that he was healed, but I knew I would have to remain with him in order to fight against my mother’s negative comments. But I had my own family to take care of. I had to leave.
Wealthy Living Faith Healing Secrets
I reconciled my feelings of blame and after his funeral I understood that we all make choices. My father always gave into my mother; so there was nothing I could do to change that for him. We can never create for others what we want for them because we all have a free will, but we can insure that we create for ourselves what we want and need.
In a situation of physical healing it’s important we share our faith and prayers for healing only with those who believe that God can heal. Otherwise wasted time and emotion will go into explaining to others why we believe the way we do. For those who are stuck with people who are negative, my advice is to never listen or take to heart what they say and double up on God’s medicine for healing.
Although my father was healed of one medical condition he was struck with another that took his life. Would my father have lived had he been in an atmosphere of faith, praise and thanksgiving for his healing and good health? In this life I can only speculate, but I do know that we owe it to each other to broadcast God's best in every word we speak over those we love and even those who are strangers.
